Crelate in the Beginning

In the summer or 2013 Crelate’s first Blog post defined a Talent Relationship Management (TRM) solution as: “Software that brings the very best of traditional Customer Relationships Management functionality to bear, but focuses on recruiting, networking, on-boarding, growing, and maintaining lasting relationships with individuals.” We also stated that TRM is more of a philosophy, as opposed to just a set of tools, and therefore, the following were a few of the highlights as we launched Crelate:

  • Talent is the end, not just a means to an end
  • Attracting talent requires a strong network, a solid reputation, and a real opportunity
  • Nurturing and retaining talent requires mutual respect and ongoing growth
  • Applicant Tracking, Candidate Management and TRM are intimately linked
  • An effective TRMS should enable users by getting out of their way (values flexibility over rigidity)
  • Enabling networking and ongoing relationship-building is key to our business (we value interconnections and continuous interaction)

Crelate – Creating Relationships

Now, more than two years removed from the start of Crelate we are still committed to all of our original principles, but we’ve also added a few more to our overall vision as we have grown. So, we ask the question again: What makes for Talent Relationship Management Software (TRMS), or more to the point what should it be? and How does Crelate’s solution solve the problems associated with Talent Relationship Management? TRM is firmly rooted in the notion that recruiters are in the people business and what motivates and animates them is the freedom to build long-lasting relationships with their clients and customers and truly impact people’s lives in a positive way. What is more rewarding than helping people find the right candidates for their open positions and also helping talented people grow in jobs that are just the right fit? We can think of few things more rewarding than ‘growing people’ and seeing them succeed in their careers. Therefore, recruiters need a software solution that will do everything possible to free up more time for connecting and less time doing mindless ‘busy-work.’ It is with this philosophy that we have expanded our thinking about TRM and the following list of fundamentals have emerged:

  • Great recruiting software should be a cross between art and engineering.
  • The recruiting process is fluid and so software must take this workflow into account to be effective.
  • When candidate relationships are in the foreground, recruiters can build all sorts of talent communities that pay off in shorter hiring times, lower hiring costs, and better quality hires.
  • High-performing recruiters are ‘over-communicators’ and so need a Candidate Management and TRM solution that makes it super-easy to track all communications with clients and customers (and get access to those conversations in real-time).
  • Effective recruiters are playing the ‘long-game’ and understand they need to cultivate relationships and gain trust from potential candidates and clients – their TRMS should promote this approach to recruiting.
  • At every turn a good TRMS  should strive to save recruiters time and fight complexity with simplicity.
  • A good TRMS  / ATS should make up for recruiters’ weaknesses and amplify their strengths
  • A good TRMS  / ATS should make it super easy to find things and allow easy searching of their data so they can quickly start the process of connecting the right candidate with the right opportunity.

It is with these principles, and our vision of Talent Relationship Management, that Crelate has consistently added and improved existing features of Crelate to reflect the goals of an effective TRMS . We also take customer feedback seriously and are constantly tweaking Crelate to fit the needs of modern recruiters.

Crelate in the Future

As Crelate marches into 2016 we are excited to continue working toward crafting the ideal Talent Management Software system that will allow for recruiters to be their best and do what they are best at: connect with others and grow their talent communities.
