Crelate Talent is Always on the Lookout for Talent

Crelate is proud to announce that two interns have joined us for Summer 2017: Sandro Mijatovic and Nick Mead. Just like the recruiters and HR professionals that we are building software solutions for Crelate is consistently on the lookout for talented individuals to join our team. An internship program provides a great opportunity for people to be exposed to Crelate and how we work.

During their first week at Crelate I had the opportunity to chat with Sandro and Nick. I’m excited to introduce these guys to the Crelate community.

Crelate: How did you learn or Crelate?

Sandro: I first read about Crelate on my coding camp’s job board.

Crelate: What interested you about Crelate Talent?

Sandro: Crelate stood out because it presented a great learning opportunity. Getting to work on test automation allow us to see the inner-workings of the program.

Crelate: What are you working on for Crelate this summer?

Sandro: We are tasked with increasing code coverage. Making sure more of the code base is being tested.

Crelate: Where are you enrolled in school and what are your plans post-graduation?

Sandro: Not enrolled anywhere.

Crelate: What do you see as the value of doing an internship?

Sandro: Gaining knowledge and perspective. Getting to see what it takes to build and manage an application. Getting a feel for what it’s like to work as a coder.

Sandro: I hope to develop my skill set and gain some perspective.

Crelate: What do you like to do outside of work?

Sandro: I like spending quality in time in front of the TV with friends and family! Going out and being active is ok too–sports, hikes, beaches, dance competitions (kidding).

Crelate: What do you like most and least about living in Seattle?

Sandro: I like the green and the natural beauty. The rain is not so good. Yes, I know you cannot have one without the other. Still haven’t decided whether it’s worth it.

Crelate: Anything else you want to add?

Sandro: Just want to give a big thank you to Clint, Aaron, and the rest of the team. Everyone has been extremely welcoming and helpful!

Crelate: How did you learn or Crelate?

Nick: I learned of Crelate through my school’s internship board (Epicodus).

Crelate: What interested you about Crelate Talent?

Nick: Crelate’s software offered a wide range of services and given its relatively small development team. I saw an opportunity to learn and touch upon a variety of different topics in software development.

Crelate: What are you working on for Crelate this summer?

Nick: The interns are responsible for writing test scripts and working on the testing automation framework for the Crelate Talent product.

Crelate: Where are you enrolled in school and what are your plans post-graduation?

Nick: While I graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Mathematics, I am currently enrolled in a Web Development Bootcamp called Epicodus and post-graduation I plan on job searching in the Greater Seattle area.

Crelate: What do you see as the value of doing an internship?

Nick: An internship provides experience in a real business setting that can’t be provide in a school environment. The software and work being produced in an internship has a real impact on the world and that is very satisfying to know. As an example, the test scripts that I write will be utilized to catch any big errors in production and that makes me feel like I am producing something that has actual meaning.

Crelate: What do you hope to get out of interning with Crelate this summer?

The Beautiful Pacific NW

Nick: I hope to get more experience jumping into a giant production code base and become more comfortable navigating around in an environment I have not had much time getting acquainted with.

Crelate: What do you like to do outside of work?

Nick: I train for power lifting and am always coding a side project. I am currently working on a chess application where the AI utilizes the Minimax Algorithm to make it unbeatable to the average chess player. I also like hiking, baseball, comics, and anything to do with math.

Crelate: What do you like most and least about living in Seattle?

Nick: What I like most about Seattle is the diversity of people and cultures that exist in the area. As for the least, most definitely the barrage of cloudy days. It takes a toll after about 100 days of dark and grey days in a row.

We are excited to have Sandro and Nick interning this summer at Crelate and look forward to seeing their growth over the next several weeks!
